Dear Candidates, The American Board of Professional Neuropsychology (ABN) is seeking to award scholarships to candidates from diverse backgrounds and/or historically underrepresented groups in neuropsychology. This is one step towards ABN’s goal of advocating for, recruiting, and retaining diverse membership in our organization. The scholarship award is meant to offset costs involved in attaining Board Certification through ABN. Applications should take the form of a letter addressed to the Diversity Scholarship Committee and speak to all of the following topics: Clear articulation of career plans in neuropsychology Involvement in volunteerism, advocacy and leadership in neuropsychology Resiliency/distance traveled in pursuit of career in neuropsychology Plans for volunteerism within ABN Applications will be accepted until 11/15/23 and should be emailed to the incoming ABN president at: kristafreece@abnbod.org. A prerequisite for the diversity scholarship application is that the candidate must have had their ABN application approved. The scholarship application review process will last for one month following the due date of the application. Applicants will be notified of the review outcome in late December, 2023. If a scholarship is awarded, it applies to the base fee for exam stages (e.g., Multiple Choice, Work Samples and/or Orals) completed in the next two calendar years. For example, if a candidate is notified that a scholarship is awarded in December, 2023, the fees will be waived for any exams taken in 2024 and 2025. Fees will not be refunded retroactively and the additional fee if a candidate chooses to do virtual Orals will not apply. ABN strongly encourages applications from candidates from historically underrepresented backgrounds, with diverse attributes that include but are not limited to age, race, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, and gender diversity. ABN recognizes that the responsibility for excellence, diversity, and inclusion lies with all of us! Please direct any questions about the scholarship, application or review process to Dr. Krista Freece at kristafreece@abnbod.org. Respectfully, The ABN Board of Directors & Diversity Committee
